Canon is a very well known Japanese brand which creates really good optical and print products. As part of their optical range they have a reliable selection of scanners. Canon only make flat bed scanners, or scanners built into printers. They do not have a range of film scanners which only scan negatives/slides, but they put this ability into some of their scanners.

They do have a section on their website for dedicated film scanners. This hopefully means that they are thinking about making a standalone unit.
Prices range for Canon scanners but they are always reasonable and as you get what you pay for, a Canon scanner does mean you’ll get something which should last and work for many years. Finding something that lasts in our now, throw away society, can be difficult so it is nice when you need not worry about something breaking down at a vital moment.
